It’s been a rough week in celebrity relationship land. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split up, and everyone’s still talking about it. Let’s be honest, we probably will be for a while, especially with Miley spilling all kinds of tea if you listen to the lyrics of her brand new song “Slide Away.” But thankfully for those of us who thrive on HEAs (which is all of us), Taylor Swift also released a new song this week called “Lover,” and it’s her most romantic song to date, hands down. If you haven’t heard it yet, give it a listen now.
There are tons of references to Taylor’s boyfriend of three years, British actor Joe Alwyn, including “I’ve loved you for three summers now (Taylor and Joe started dating in 2016), and the British flag appearing in the lyric video. Rumors are swirling that these two are either already engaged or about to get engaged, and if the words to the song are any indication, it seems like Taylor’s head over heels.
In any case, this is a seriously romantic song that gives me chills—in a good way, and makes me want to cry happy tears. What do you think of “Lover?”
